Key Responsibilities

HR Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide oversight and direction to the HR Coordinator.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead workforce planning, talent acquisition, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Support company-wide HR systems, procedures, and compliance frameworks.

Recruitment & Talent Management

  • Collaborate with the Canada Mobility Specialist for international and national recruitment.
  • Maintain and update job descriptions and job requirements.
  • Plan and attend career fairs and recruitment events.
  • Oversee onboarding and employee orientation programs.
  • Conduct and analyze exit interviews.

Employee Relations & Union Management

  • Administer and interpret collective bargaining agreements.
  • Manage union grievances, including step 1 & 2 hearings and arbitration.
  • Participate in negotiation meetings and documentation management.
  • Conduct internal investigations (harassment, unfair treatment, workplace issues).
  • Collaborate with Payroll to ensure wage adjustments per collective agreements.

Compensation, Benefits & Compliance

  • Administer employee benefits programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Employment Standards Act, Human Rights legislation, and employment law.
  • Represent the organization at hearings when required.
  • Monitor HR analytics and reporting for Western Canada operations.

Corporate Social Responsibility

  • Act as a VINCI Foundation sponsor.
  • Coordinate volunteer activities and community initiatives.
  • Promote employee engagement through internal and social communications.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resource Management (required).
  • CPHR designation or actively pursuing certification (mandatory).
  • Minimum 5+ years of HR experience, including at least 1 year of leadership experience.
  • Experience in the construction or infrastructure industry (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, human rights legislation, and labour standards.
  • Experience administering union agreements (mandatory).
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and HR databases.
  • Advanced communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning capabilities.
